Guild Goal:
The goal of New Methods is to defeat the hardest content Wrath of the Lich King has to offer. We won't rest until Arthas is dead.
How will we accomplish this? Keep reading.
Who We Are:
New Methods is a serious raid mentality wrapped in a 3 nights per week schedule. After much searching for a good population pvp server, we decided on Stormreaver. From there we began recruiting from all over and started a re-roll on July 27th, 2009. We plan on beginning our raid progression after Labor Day weekend. If you are a player that needs 20 hours a week to do what many guilds can do in 12 hours a week, this is not the place for you. Scoff at the idea of competitive progression in 12 hour weeks? Legions on Lightbringer, Ad Infinitum on Lethon, the list is really long. Time is money.
Raid Schedule: Days: Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday Time: 8:30pm-12:00am CST. Invites at 8:15pm. The GM's Caveat:
I have been playing this game since just after release. I remember the days of PvP before WSG released as well as UBRS being intense end-game material. I have raided and held officer roles in three guilds from preBC to today. I have done all content minus preBC C'Thun/Naxx, BC Sunwell, and LK Uld25 HMs. Our officer core shares either slightly more or less of the same progression and experience levels. I have seen what makes guilds succeed and fail over the years.
Our Raid Stance: There are four major attributes I expect our raiders to possess.
- Consistency
- Attendance, performance and situational awareness. A quality raider maintains an absolute minimum of 80% attendance on all content, maintains high performance on all encounters and knows how to avoid bad stuff on the ground.
- Accountability and Maturity
- A quality raider owns up to a mistake and LEARNS FROM IT. I won't nerd rage on vent but I will expect you to say, "Okay, I died to an icicle, won't happen again." I don't want excuses; I want you to identify your problem and fix it.
- The maturity portion of this goes hand in hand with being able to hold yourself accountable. Be an adult about things in raids. Be an adult in Stormreaver communities. Don't give us a bad name.
- You also hold the raiding team above your personal interests. Selfish immaturity will not get you far here or in real life.
- Research
- Quality raiders come to the encounters having done the research. The internet has many resources for all encounters out there. Quality raiders also utilize theorycrafting and spreadsheet simulation to understand their gear, rotation, and role maximization.
- If we're on cutting edge content, there won't be much but data mined abilities available. I expect you to be able to read a boss ability and make a logical guess as to what that will entail in a raid encounter.
- Skills
- Yes, there is definitely an element of player skill involved. If you simply are not proficient in this game, it will show.
If you don't have these characteristics, you will not find yourself a good fit in our team. We will run an "as-slim-as-possible" raid roster. I've never liked big rosters where 40 people sign on for 25 raid slots. This means that we expect our raiders to be consistent in attendance. Real life situations are understandable, but making a habit of missing raids will put you on standby status. We won't gear up a toon who's there once a week.Loot New Methods runs a loot council system. No loot system is perfect but we believe our officer team capable of being benevolent to the RAID TEAM AS A WHOLE. I will not maintain a DKP system. I've seen the downsides of DKP cause progression halts as the focus becomes gearing up rather than progressing. It's tons more work maintaining a dkp system that limits inflation as well. We consider a player's consistency, upgrade level and occasionally overall class benefit when distributing loot. More significant items are given deeper consideration but the idea is that you will know what is an upgrade BEFORE we kill the boss and will bid interest accordingly. If loot is your primary concern in this game, this is not the guild for you. We make raid decisions, not player decisions. We form like Voltron, deal with it.Expectations of Members: I summed up what our members should embody as players. Here's what the administration expects members to do.
- Frequent the forums. This is the major mode of communication with our population and ensures all eyes see the information. Use PMs for officer messages instead of in-game mail.
- Show up for every raid. We are not doing forum sign-ups for raids. Instead, we will have a forum section for those who have a real life situation come up to post unavailability. You joined a raiding guild knowing the schedule, so it's a fair expectation that you will log in on time for every raid. Just like your place of employment, we'll replace you if you make a habit of ditching raids.
- Don't cause drama. I've been playing this game (online games in general) too long to tolerate childish behavior when it comes to loot, chat or taking advice. I don't have free time to police our members, but if something is brought to my attention that makes me look like a bad GM, I will handle it with extreme prejudice.
- Realm forums will not be your flame bait.
- Trade chat won't be [anal] spammed, filled with hate speech or anything that will give <New Methods> a bad name.
- When you PUG, do not make our guild tag look immature. I don't expect you to bang your head against a wall with a bad PUG. However, just state that you are stepping out of the group and leave accordingly.
- Loot drama will not be tolerated. We will distribute loot to make progression our priority, not personal interest. I will not let a loot whore break our foundation or focus.
- I personally have a very tough hide when it comes to conversations. Some of our guild members do not. Don't be ridiculous in g-chat conversation and we'll get along fine.
- Don't be a nuisance. We all have bad days at work or terribad luck with loot. We sympathize but we don't need to hear every detail in guild chat all the time.
- Give feedback where needed. We are all human. Advice is advice and if you feel something can be improved, make a clear statement to an officer (save it til after a raid if you can). I won't judge people for their disagreeing opinions.
- Compete for the top every raid. I want a good amount of healthy competition to perform among our classes. This should never be malicious or conniving, but rather to further our abilities and dominate content. We play better when we're challenged.
- Consistent underperformance, lack of research or maturity will lead to removal. We are a raiding guild and while I definitely value the relationships we build as a team, you are proving that you aren't aligned with the guild's goals. Thus, it may be time for us to part.
How to Apply:1. Do you fit our raid stance? 2. Do you understand our expectations clearly? <-- Look to the left sidebar. Application forums link is at the bottom of it. |
